THE MIDAS TOUCH— A KIEF BROWN BIOGRAPHY
It's not often that one comes across a creative being like Kief Brown and realizes what they just experienced, let alone getting themselves into. Yet, the mention of his name to anyone in the Atlanta music community, evokes a storied musical web that few could weave so well over the years.
To see him curate musical magic is an experience all in itself. He's far from your typical singer or songwriter, with him securing three Grammy nominations in the bag. But as far as he can remember, he’s always wanted to not only be an entertainer, but the entertainment. A whole experience.
One minute he's got you mesmerized with the pulsating beats of his songs, then next he's, taking you to a completely different place, jumping with new beats and vibing with real lyrics. Before you know it, he's creating magic, as though possessed by the music. Kief's vibrant, hypnotic masterpieces, practically turns everything he touches into gold. (or Platinum, in the case of Lupe Fiasco’s, Grammy nominated hit, The Show Goes.)
But ultimately, his magic stems from the relationships he builds with others every day. He explains that this is where the imaginary money concept branches. Where he treats relationships worth more than money, hints “Imaginary Money.”
So just who exactly is Kief Brown?
Atlanta music historians, are aware of the depths of Kief's résumé. For he is, perhaps one of the Millennials most worldly artistic gems, hidden in plain sight.
As an 8 year-old wunderkid, Kief recalls entertaining his family and friends or anyone who would listen. The musician was born in the musical underbelly, New Orleans, Louisiana. Like the timeless and renaissance legends reared from NOLA, Kief knows no genre. With lyrics and sounds so vivid, no one genre is worthy of containing his light. He explains, he can play many positions in the game. Artist, singer, songwriter, producer, artist developer and entrepreneur.
The Love Story
Not knowing what he really had in his hand, he recalls having to explain to his mother what a record deal and label was. Kief shared an account, at 17, as a minor, having his mother signing his contract, for his first major record deal.
He expounds on his experience as being like a relationship. Like meeting a girl in the summertime, he fell head over heels with the deal. The life. The Machine. But after the honeymoon period, it turned into the bitch from hell. Like a beautiful love child born out of wedlock, the music is the gift birthed from the platonic connection. Heartbroken, he describes how the fairytale did not, grow organically without a climax or conflict, but the relationship, maturely ended amicably. The music continues to be nurtured and the machine upholds the financial duties of the contract, for the love child. Music.
The Energy

His sole purpose of music is to inspire others to use their platform to share their gifts. Empowering others to make room for themselves and their gifts, is his passion and challenge. It is particularly important for Kief to leave a carbon foot print in music. Let’s break that down.
